A Meeting of VRCTMC Board of Trustees
On August 5, 2008 in the Volyn Regional Children’s Territorial Medical Center there was a held a meeting of Board of Trustees chaired by its Head Mrs. Olena Hrinchenko. The meeting heard the report of VRCTMC General Director Dr. Hryhoriy Vashchylin regarding obtaining off-budget funds and discussed some questions concerning urgency of improving perinatal services to Volyn population in VRCTMC conditions.

with the "Hospital Benevolent to a Child" Status
On April 1-2, 2008 a group of independent experts consisting of Drs. O. Shlemkevych and N. Savchak (Associate Professors, Physicians Advanced Training Department, D. Halytsky Lviv National Medical University) evaluated the Volyn Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital to comply with the "Hospital Benevolent to a Child" status.

On March 21, 2008 Minister of Health Care of Ukraine Vasyl Knyazevych made a working visit to the Volyn Regional Children’s Territorial Medical Center. The guest was accompanied by Head of Volyn Regional State Administration Mykola Romanyuk, Head of Volyn Regional Rada Anatoliy Hrytsyuk, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Volodymyr Karpuk, Head of Volyn Health Care Department Ihor Vashchenyuk.

On March 18, 2008 the Volyn Regional Children’s Territorial Medical Center was visited by Assistant Secretary of Council of National Security and Defence of Ukraine Mr. B. Zaychuk. The aim of the visit was getting acquainted with the situation in giving highly specialized medical help to children of the Volyn Oblast.

Volyn Regional Children’s Territorial Medical Center Introduced
the Polymerase Chain Reaction Technique
In January 2008 the laboratory of medical genetics, immunology and genetic biochemistry began making tests using the polymerase chain reaction technique (PCR). This technique has been used in the world since 1993; for its development Dr. Kary Mullis was awarded with the Nobel Prize because it was an extraordinary event in molecular biology. Now this method is available in the Volyn Regional Children’s Territorial Medical Center as well.
