Opening the Children's Oncohematological Center

On November 18, 2009 a Regional Children's Oncohematological Center was open in the Volyn Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. At the opening ceremony there were present Head of the Volyn Regional State Administration Mr. M. Romaniuk, adviser of the Volyn Regional Council Head Mr. V. Banada, President of Public Corporation "Lutsksantekhmontazh # 536" V. Chornukha and other guests.

Earlier specialized oncohematological help to Volyn children was delivered in the Pediatric Department # 3 of the Volyn Regional Children's Territorial Medical Center which included 15 hematological and 5 oncological beds. On those beds we conducted diagnosis and treatment (chemotherapy) of children with blood and hematopoietic system diseases and malignant neoplasms (hemoblastosis and solid tumors). Patients' stay conditions required cardinal improvement.

The newly created center contains 30 beds: 5 children's oncological, 15 children's hematological, 5 children's nephrological, 5 children's immunological. There is an immunological laboratory in the center for improvement of diagnostic process and chemotherapy quality control.

Inspecting rooms and equipment of the center

The center will use contemporary methods and equipment to actively diagnose such diseases and conditions as lymphadenitis, lymphadenopathy, mild pyrexia of unknown etiology, leukemoid reactions, coagulation anomalies, anemia of different origin, hemorrhagic diathesis, malignant diseases and pre-malignant conditions, immune, toxicoallergic and inflammatory kidney diseases, severe immunological disorders. If needed, there will be selection and referring patients to the republican medical facilities.
