Categories of activity: rendering highly qualified medical help in conditions of in-patient department with 35 beds; microsurgery services to patients with cataracts of different type (congenital, traumatic, secondary, senile), glaucoma, and eye injuries.

Realizing the state program “Children of Ukraine”, the Children’s Ophthalmology Department is provided with new diagnostic and treatment equipment for conducting up-to-date high-level cataract surgery. First of all, that includes phacoemulsificator "Millenium" – apparatus for removing cloudy lens with the help of ultrasound which contributes to better healing, minimal traumatization of eye tissues, makes possible implantation of artificial lens into the capsule sac, including soft (flexible) intraocular lenses. The department’s physicians have mastered the phacoemulsification method; they have already successfully made a number of surgeries with implantation of soft flexible intraocular lenses in patients with congenital and traumatic cataracts.

In the Center there is a “Ptimis” laser (Quantel Medical Company) – pulsed Zad-laser for performing surgery on the eye anterior part: capsulotomy in secondary cataracts, iridectomies, synechiotomies.

Before, medical help to such patients could be rendered only in big republican clinics. Today such operations can be done to people of different age in our Center.

A/B Ultrasound Ophthalmologic Scanner “Alcon” is used for eye preoperative examination, defining the necessary size of artificial lens, for diagnosis of retinal detachment, intraocular neoplasms, etc.

Automatic ophthalmotonometer (ŔŇ–550) is used for no-contact measuring of intraocular tension; the procedure does not require anesthesia and allows prompt measuring both in adults and 4-5-year old children.

One more apparatus - autorefractometer – is necessary for exact measuring of refraction, eye axes and degree of astigmatism in children and adults.

The department gives ophthalmologic help to children with different kinds of strabismus and amblyopia. Surgeries are being successfully performed on the occasion of strabismus, nystagmus in congenital ptosis, glaucoma, removing neoplasms, eye and appendages hemangiomas, microsurgical help in different eye traumas.

Patients can apply to the Regional Children’s Consultative Out-Patient Clinic and Ophthalmology Department (Lutsk, Vidrodzhennya Pr., 30. Phone: +38-03322-54038) every day except Sunday. For admission one should have a clinical examination conclusion from a rayon or city out-patient clinic.
