The VRCTMC X-Ray Diagnosis Department renders radiological, stomatological and endoscopic services.

The department staff includes:

  • Head of the department Dr. Serhiy Lyashenko.
  • Staff physicians:
    • Radilogist Dr. Henadiy Khomutynkin;
    • Endoscopy physician Dr. Ihor Somov;
    • Stomatologist Dr. Nataliya Myakushko.
  • Paramedical personnel:
    • endoscopy room nurse;
    • stomatology room nurse;
    • radiology laboratoty assistants;
    • assistant nurses.

The X-Ray Diagnosis Department has two radiology rooms. They use the following radiological equipment:

  1. Radiodiagnostic system "CHIRALUX-2" with 3 working places (Czechia, 1996).
  2. Radiodiagnostic system "Indiakom-2" XDC 50 with information digital processing for three working places (Kharkiv, Ukraine, 2002).
  3. Mobile radiology devices "Arman".

To examine a patient we use two technologies: ordinary and digital. Ordinary technology allows getting quality X-ray images on a film. Digital technology allows getting high quality clear image on a computer screen, processing it for better visualization of details, keeping in electronic archive. If necessary, the needed X-ray image can be printed out.

These methods allow making the following examinations:

  1. Radiological examination of chest organs:
    • chest roentgenography and digital roentgenography.
  2. Radiological examination of digestive system:
    • survey radiography of abdominal cavity; barium radiography;
    • irrigoscopy and roentgenography of gastrointestinal tract.
  3. Radiological examinations of bone and articular system:
    • roentgenography of peripheral departments of skeleton and spine in two views;
    • cranium roentgenography in two views;
    • Schuller's, Stenvers, Mayer roentgenography;
    • roentgenography of paranasal sinuses and nasal bones;
    • roentgenography of clavicle, temporal bone, mandible, scapula in two projections, sternum;
    • roentgenography of pelvis bones, upper and lower limbs.
  4. Radiological examinations in nephrology, urology and gynecology:
    • micturating cystography, excretory urography, salpingography.
  5. Complex and special radiological examinations related to punctures, catheterization, duct and cavity probing (fistulography).

The X-Ray Diagnosis Department fully conforms to sanitarian and hygienic norms and safety requirements. Equipment is grounded; there are safety instructions near each radiology device.

Help in the department is given twenty-four hours a day. Annually we make about 20000 radiological examinations.

In the department there are two endoscopy rooms. Endoscopic surgeries are made both in the endoscopy rooms and surgical rooms of the Volyn Regional Children’s Territorial Medical Center.

Endoscopic equipment:

  1. Gastro-intestinal videoendoscope "OLYMPUS GIF–160".
  2. Endoscopic video system "Olympus Endoscopic Video Information System EVIS EXERA 140" with additional equipment.
  3. Set of endoscopic instruments.
  4. Friedel's hard bronchoscope.
  5. Proctoscope.

Endoscopy services include the following diagnostic and treatment procedures:

  • fibrosophagogastroduodenoscopy;
  • rectosigmoidoscopy;
  • bronchoscopy, bronchography, laryngoscopy;
  • vaginoscopy;
  • biopsies of different types;
  • endoscopic polypectomy, endoscopic hemostasis;
  • endoscopic removal of foreign bodies in airways and digestive tract;
  • endoscopic treatment of esophageal burns;
  • endoscopic assistance during intubation of trachea.

Annually we conduct about 1300 endoscopic examinations including 1100 in digestive tract, 100 bronchoscopies, 100 rectosigmoidoscopies.

In the stomatological room we annually do 4500 diagnostic examinations and 3500 medical stomatological procedures.
